The project aims at creating a sustainable environmental services, comprising of safe and clean water supply, safe sanitation facilities and hygiene promotion developed for 1000 households of Sakabuka informal settlement.
The project objectives are as follows:
Objective 1: Provide access to safe and clean water
Objective 2: Provide access to a safe communal toilet and bathrooms) facility for the community.
Objective 2: Promote good hygiene habits through education.
To enhance income earning opportunities among women in Sakabuka informal settlement .
Through the project women will be offered an opportunity to develop entrepreneurship skills to allow them to build their small businesses. Re-usable pads that will be produced will be distributed to rural girls in Zimbabwe. It is envisage that 100 girls will not miss schools days due menstrual poverty.
The Aftercare programme trains and supports local moms to host after-school clubs with primary school aged children living in the community.
Using a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) and emotional awareness approaches and toolkit, the host moms facilitate educational aftercare sessions. The children will be supervised and cared for during the aftercare sessions. These children will be taken away from unsafe street life.
We aim to establish 10 aftercare clubs where each club will have a maximum of 10 kids. The Aftercare project is envisaged to deliver outcomes as follows
1)Provide a safe and supervised aftercare services to children to enhance their academic performances.
2) Increase literacy by encouraging reading for understanding.
3) Encourage children in learning Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths through STEAM.
Through the projects the participating children will have an opportunity to do their homeworks under an adult supervision. Literacy level will improve as al activites and engagements are geared towards improved literacy levels.
